Why this Digital Garden?
If I were to answer it plainly and simply, it is Boredom. I have started this just out of boredom. No great ambition. No great Vision. Nothing. This Digital Garden is just to amuse myself in my free time.
Randomly at times, I would think of something amusing and interesting, At least it would appear at first. Sometimes I will think them on my own, others I would have stumbled upon in Books, or Podcasts or some blogs. And later, occasionally I would stumble upon something very similar, and when that happens all I remember is I have read or heard something very similar, and have made some assumptions, but I am not able remember anything more that that. Not the original idea, nor the assumption or conclusion.
At some point I just called it void, Since it keeps swallowing anything I throw in it without a trace it seemed a fitting name. So this Digital Garden true to its name will contain every fleeting interest I have (not every, but the ones that I manage to put into my vault.)
The name is also partially influenced from its appearance in The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan
I use the 7 point rating system suggested by Kepano, because it actually makes great sense to me.
Rating system
Anything with a rating uses an integer from 1 to 7:
- 7 — Perfect, must try, life-changing, go out of your way to seek this out
- 6 — Excellent, worth repeating
- 5 — Good, don’t go out of your way, but enjoyable
- 4 — Passable, works in a pinch
- 3 — Bad, don’t do this if you can
- 2 — Atrocious, actively avoid, repulsive
- 1 — Evil, life-changing in a bad way
Why this scale? I like rating out of 7 better than 4 or 5 because I need more granularity at the top, for the good experiences, and 10 is too granular.
