I realised something about my thinking. when I form some hypothesis, or hear some insight about something from someone, or read from somewhere, if that makes sense in the surface level, I don’t question it. I don’t question the things critically. I don’t think about the what ifs.

  • I need to think of all the situations where even the base claim is invalid.
    • This is the most basic and critical question I should ask.
    • I had this idea after reading 1984 by George Orwell, that “Our Language determines our way of thinking.” then I refined it by saying “Our Language determines the rate at which we as a society think.”

Thinking is hard, so it’s natural that most people stop as soon as possible. We get the gist of something and move on to the next problem. 1

Thinking uses up too much calories, precious calories that could have been used for foraging, or other more productive things. So we are averse to thinking. That is why humans would rather shock themselves with electric current rather than sit with our own thoughts. Relates to Boredom
